Many people never think that a laundry room could be the bonus that sells a house, but it so often is. The unfortunate part about laundry rooms is that everyone thinks they have to be plain and boring, or that it is a place to store stuff.

If you are trying to sell your house take a look at your laundry room. Is it clean? Is it plain? Could you do something to enhance it? Maybe add some shelves or paint the walls and remove the clutter. The laundry room is a place where you clean your clothes. It should feel clean - at all times.

If you are looking to do some rennovation work or build a laundry room here are a few tips to think about:
1. Shelves, shelves, shelves, and a clothes rack. The laundry room should be a place where organizing, folding, steaming, ironing, stain removing, and hanging are apparent practices and easy to do while in the room.

2. Paint light colors if you can. If you prefer bolder colors, accent with a lot of white (make sure to keep the room bright).  Because it is a room that is clean and fresh, make sure it feels airy and breezy like a summer day. One great way to acheive this, feel other than by painting, is to install lots of lights or windows to help brighten the room.

3. Flooring is important - NO linoleum.  People just prefer hardwood or stone floors in todays market, don't skimp out on the flooring you will regret it later.

Laundry rooms today are not the same ones that you had when you were little. With companies like GE, LG, Maytag and more all competing for consumer dollars more than ever - the design and style of washer and dryers is going crazy.

Also don't forget: if you get a white or aluminum washer and dryer, you can always go get a custom wrap done and apply it for a unique look.
