A few weeks ago I came across a website called One King's Lane. To be honest, I really didn't know what it was all about when I first signed up - but I quickly found out!
It's free to sign up, and so far they haven't spammed me. In fact I only get one e-mail a day that reminds me of upcoming sales. The cool thing about OKL is that it feels exclusive without being exclusive, which works out great for their sales.
What OKL has mastered is the fact that when you see an item that retails for $800 on sale for $185, or if you see some of the really great accessories originally $55 now $19, it entices you to buy the item. It also allows them to offer a great variety of items from designers and stores, from the very luxurious to the inexpensive.
Plainly put, OKL is a very smart marketing move that follows through on providing unique, quality goods at close out prices. But be warned: the sales only last a few days, if even that long, and items sell out fast - so when it hits 10am central you had better be on the site shopping if you really want certain items or brands you saw on the calendar for upcoming sales.
One of the great features about this website is the sale calendar. When you login you first see pictures of the current sales and there are only a few links at the top. One link is for your profile, another for you to send an invite to friends, and the third for keeping track of your invites, credits, and purchases. There is also a link for the sale calendar, click there and you will see a weekly calendar with all of the brands and designers who are featured in the daily sales for the week.
OKL also features designers. The profile section highlights loads of interior designers, all with various styles. One of the designers I just read about on OKL is already going to be one of my favorites and you might have even heard of her.
Elaine Griffin has a style that is sophisticated, but not stuffy. Elaine studied at the New York School of Interior Design and went to work for Peter Marino. She has worked on big and small projects and is currently ranked in House Beautiful's top 100 American Designers.
Patterns, solids, textures, contrast, balance, sopistication, and details: Elaine Griffin really knows her stuff.
